20-to-1 Stat Proves Planned Parenthood is Unnecessary

Women Have Real Choices

When the Green Bay Packers Foundation chose to grant money to Planned Parenthood of Milwaukee, they not only betrayed their devoted fans, but overlooked a hometown hero that has been meeting the needs of the most vulnerable for nearly three decades:  The A&A Alexandrina Center.

A common talking point used by Planned Parenthood to justify the millions of tax dollars they receive (not to mention grants like the one they got from the Packers) is that without them, indispensable healthcare services would be unavailable to women.

This is patently false.

As the Charlotte Lozier Institute has documented, there are 20 community health clinics to every Planned Parenthood in the United States.

There are approximately 695 Planned Parenthood clinics—and all either perform abortions or are abortion sales offices.

Conversely, there are more than 13,000 non-abortion providing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) service sites and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) that provide comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare.

Planned Parenthood is unnecessary.

This shows how organizations like A&A Alexandrina Center—which is a 100-percent volunteer crisis pregnancy center with no paid staff—truly play a vital role in our community.

A&A administrator Ann Shibler shared that the pregnancy care center has applied for grants from the Packers on five or six occasions, but they were turned down each time.  “We were told [in one denial] that we didn’t fit the criteria for an organization they’d support.  They said we didn’t ‘empower women’ because we simply give out supplies,” recalled Shibler.

Since its founding, A&A has cared for 40,000-50,000 mothers and babies—serving 2,000-2,500 per year on average. The majority of the expectant mothers are minorities—a criteria the Packers pointed to in their decision to fund Planned Parenthood.

A&A provides expectant mothers in need with a pregnancy test and ultrasound at no charge.  They also offer clothes, baby gear, diapers for a year and other necessities.

Yet according to Shibler, the Packers do not see this as empowerment.

Apparently they believe funding the nation’s largest abortion provider benefits women and children.

“It was positively gut wrenching to have the Packers Foundation give money to Planned Parenthood of Milwaukee,”  Shibler said, “when A&A Alexandrina Center has been serving women and children—well over 40,000 of them—for 29 years right here in Green Bay in a positive and life-affirming way.”

Like so many who call Northeast Wisconsin their home, Shibler explained that the team at A&A “have green and gold in [their blood],” even citing a familial connection: Her grandfather was Curly Lambeau’s cousin, and Lambeau would often visit his home to drop off tickets.

A&A recently made a substantial contribution because they understand that we must all work together if we are ever to truly Restore Packer Pride.
