40 Days For Life – Green Bay: 19 Years and 33 Vigils

Last week, a “Sleep No More” vet asked me how long we’ve been “doing this.”

19 years and 33 vigils!

The first 40 Days vigil in Green Bay was conducted between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in 2006, two years after the first vigil in College Station, Texas, and one year before the official “launch” of 40 Days for Life in 2007. Over 700 people participated in that historic vigil, which was organized by Wisconsin Right to Life, the A. & A. Alexandrina Center, and the Wisconsin Knights of Columbus.

If you’d like to see the story of that vigil, and a sympathetic–if not downright supportive–local news story about it, Please Click HERE.

The miracle of what happens during a 40 Days for Life vigil is only surpassed by the miracle of its growth.  Now, with over 600 vigils on every continent other than Antarctica, this peaceful prayerful powerhouse against the forces of darkness brings to mind only one other question:

Who receives the greater blessings…participants, or passersby?

Mull over the miracle of this work as you walk the Via Dolorosa with Christ during this Week That Changed the World. Witness the darkness of Calvary turn into the joy of Easter with the knowledge that you are doing your best to bring others to Him…one step, one prayer, one heart and soul at a time…and, that we’re winning!
